About the Scholarship:

The Alan David Lyke Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the remarkable life and legacy of Alan David Lyke—a Navy veteran, devoted father, loving brother, and someone known for his lighthearted spirit and sense of humor. Alan's life was defined by resilience, compassion, and an ability to find joy, even in the face of adversity. His memory serves as the foundation of David's Circle, an initiative dedicated to supporting students who, like Alan, demonstrate perseverance and strength through life's challenges.

Award Amount: $500 - $1,000

Deadline: April 30th, 2025

Eligibility Criteria:

✅Must create a free account with David’s Circle

(select “Log In” at the top of the page and follow the prompt)
✅ Be enrolled or accepted into a 4-year college or university.
✅ Have a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale).
✅ Demonstrate financial need (must have completed FAFSA).
✅ Show involvement in community service or extracurricular activities.

Jaiquan Littleton

As a sophomore at Valdosta State University majoring in accounting with a minor in French, Jaiquan has shown exceptional resilience and determination throughout his academic journey. Despite being diagnosed with Sjogren’s Disease in 2024, he has persevered and continues to thrive, participating in the French Club and Divinity Modeling Troupe, while pursuing his goal of becoming a managerial accountant.

Jaiquan’s aspirations include studying abroad, making the dean’s list, and excelling in his courses. This scholarship will support his academic journey by easing financial burdens and enabling him to continue pursuing his passions.

Miranda Lee

We are proud to recognize Miranda Lee as a 2024 Alan David Lyke Memorial Scholar! Miranda, a freshman at Fisk University majoring in biology, hails from Chicago, IL. Her journey to college is marked by resilience and determination, shaped by a challenging upbringing. Despite these obstacles, Miranda has channeled her experiences into a powerful drive to succeed. Her goal is to defy the odds, excel in her studies, and make her mother proud as she pursues her dreams at Fisk University.

David Stewart

David Stewart is a 2023 Alan David Lyke Memorial Scholarship Recipient and a sophomore at Olivet Nazarene University.
